In times of the ‘carabineros’, before the Civil War, the entry and exit of merchandise was controlled here in order to collect the corresponding duties and prevent smuggling.
Later, when the port’s military base was active, it was used to keep checks on the influx of passengers and it was forbidden to bring in cameras or similar equipment.
This stop is also a starting point for hikes to Muleta, the lighthouse and Deià.
